The Chinese Ford Bronco will feature a pop-up roof-top tent and camping features, the company revealed in new pictures. It will also feature electrically folded seats and a full-size inflatable mattress, which will turn the car into a camper.

The Ford Bronco was revealed on August 29 at the Chengdu Auto Show and began taking pre-orders last week at the Guangzhou Auto Show. It offers both an all-electric drivetrain (EV) and a range-extended version (EREV). Customers who place a 1,000 yuan (140 USD) deposit will receive a complimentary “One-Touch Roof Camping Package” valued at 12,000 yuan (1,685 USD).

The package includes a pop-up roof which tilts 360 mm and one-touch automatic folding rear and front seats, creating a large sleeping space. The electric lifting roof is also available with one click on the information screen.

Camping has recently become quite popular in China, so automakers are trying to connect their off-roaders with camping experiences, and Ford is no exception. It comes with a camping kitchen on the tilgate, which includes a fold-down table, a magnetic strip for holding knives, cup holders and a built-in bottle opener.

Ford Bronco Basecamp, as some media call it, is currently China only. It is manufactured by Jiangling Motors (JMC), a Ford joint venture in Jiangxi province.

Like most Chinese EVs in this class, it is equipped with lidar and features assisted driving (ADAS), known as Ford Fuyu, which was developed specifically for the Chinese market. The dimensions of the EV version are 5025/1960/1815 mm with a wheelbase of 2950 mm.

The EV version comes with dual electric motors with a combined power of 332 kW (front: 130 kW, rear: 202 kW), a 105.4 kWh LFP battery from BYD, good for 650 km CLTC range. The curb weight is 2,630 kg.

The EREV version comes with 1.5T engine delivering 110 kW and dual e-motors with combined powe 310 kW. The BYD LFP battery has a capacity of 43.7 kWh, good for an EV-only range of 220 km. The combined range with a full tank is 1,220 km. The curb weight is 2,510 kg.

The Ford Bronco launch is expected later this year in China; the price hasn’t been announced yet, as pre-orders are blind.
